Give as God calls you to give....

.................. and don't be wasteful but be a wise steward with what god has given you.

As we near year’s end for 2009 I just wanted to send one final ask to you all, a final ask but an on-going thank you.  As I have mentioned previously, we wouldn’t have made it through this year without your support and we greatly appreciate it.

At this time of year charities are asking for a donation with the sole motivation being the tax receipt.  In fact, when doing some research I found some interesting reasons to give none of which actually struck a chord with why I give.  Reasons such as;

1. Meet with celebrities – you too can donate to receive a hand shake with Robin Williams.
2. Do interesting things – like attending a Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.
3. Get cool stuff – buy a hooded sweatshirt at an online charity auction just for your dog.

Some of these items may motivate us in some form to give.  I did not find on this list any of the following reasons, and these are the reasons I am giving and would like you give too;

1. We were designed to give
2. It helps to remind us that He is our source
3. To break the hold of money
4. To experience the blessing of giving
5. To enjoy God’s blessing
6. To spread the gospel
7. To honour the creator
8. To be consistent
9. The Bible tells us so
10. To follow God’s example....

For God so loved the world he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believes in Him wouldn’t perish but would have eternal life.
